David Shir ah, the squadron's mobility NCO is in charge of making sure that the teams are ready to respond. According to Sergeant Shir ah, all military Security Policemen must be trained for the team. "Some get the required training in tech school at Lackland AFB, Texas. The rest have to be trained locally with squadron resources," he said. "That training is integrated into the squadron's regular update training," he remarked. All of the Security Police at Hill attend eight hours of classroom training per month, usually dur- -' ing their day off. They also must attend regular training on weapons and chemical warfare. .Why so much emphasis on the special teams? According to Sergeant Shirah, "If we ever mobilize, the two teams will have to provide both internal and external security for the deployed ' forces. We have to know what we are doing. "It's a lot of work. Not only do we have to know law enforcement and security procedures as a primary skill, we also have to know infantry tactics as a second skill. I guess you could call us the infantry of the Air Force," he quipped.
