Millions of people have come to our country thirsting for the freedom found here. Many peoples hunger for the individual freedoms that we Americans enjoy: freedom of speech, freedom of religious belief, freedom to have and hold property, freedom of the press, freedom of petition and due process of law. Since the first Law Day celebration, the United States has faced and overcome many conflicts and crises while preserving its commitment to individual rights under the rule of law. It is appropriate that we again, on May 1, contemplate our heritage of liberty under law. Now, therefore, I, Leo Marquez, hereby do proclaim May 1, 1983, as Law Day USA on Hill Air Force Base. J ft .
