Show Joe Carlson Named Sertoma Director Orera resident, Joe Carlson, was elected International Director Dir-ector of the Sertoma Clubs in the greated Rocky Mountain Region for the next two years. His election el-ection took place at the annual an-nual convention held in Las Cruces, N.M. As international director, he will preside over clubs in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Mexi-co, and West Texas, and will serve on the board of directors of Sertoma International. Mr. Carlson has been a resident resi-dent of Orem for over 10 years, during which time he has been employed by Merck Sharp and Dome pharmaceutical company. He has served in Sertoma for seven years and has held almost every office in his club. Joe currently serves as district dist-rict governor for UtahSertomas. His wife, Melba, is the president presi-dent of the Wasatch La Sertoma Club of Provo. Wildlife Sets Opening Dates For 12 Season Opening dates for several 1972 Utah wildlife seasons are: spring turkey April 29; bear May 1; general fishing June 3; archery deer August 19; mourning dove September 1; cottontail, chunkar and Hungarian partridge, forest and sage grouse September 23; general deer October 21; cougar November 1; and pheasant November Nov-ember 11. Project Gets Piano For Polacca Branch The news that anlndian Branch of the LDS Church at Polacca, Arizona needed a piano, inspired the Orem 27th Ward MIA to the service project of buying the piano. The Orem Ward raised $590 for a piano for the Indian Branch, and have completed a very worthwhile project. A Garage Sale, Boy Scout projects, and everyone in the ward contributing articles, saw the project to its successful conclusion. con-clusion. The piano has been purchased, and will be taken to Polacca, Arizona when the little chapel is completed. Wildlife Selects Chairman Actions by the Utah Wildlife Board at their recent annual mooting held in Richfield included election of a Board Chairman and making several decisions affecting wildlife management in the State. Lewis C. Smith of Newton was r?-elected chairman of the five-man five-man Wildlife Board. The Board is the policy making body for the Division of Wildlife Re-sources in all matters excepting big gama. Big game policy is deter mined by ths Board of Big Game Control. Other members of the Utah Wildlife Board are Evan H, Mickelson, Salina; Dr. Paul Stringham, Vernal; Leland S. Swaner, Salt Lake City; and Roy L. Young, Mildord. The Wildlife Board approved purchase of fish eggs for 1973 hatchery production. U.S. Steel Reports 1972 Finances Reporting the financial results of United States Steel Corporation Corpora-tion for the first quarter of 1972, Edwin H. Gott, Board Chairman, announced that the directors had today declared a dividend of $ .40 cents per share on common stock, payable June 10, 1972, to stock holders of record at the close of business on May 5, 1972. Income for the first quarter of 1972 was $19.0 million, or .3 5 per common share, on sales of $1,125. million. Income for the first quarter of 1971 as restated to reflect a portion of the pension cost adjustment set forth in the Thursday, May 18, 1972 third quarter report for 1971 was $45.8 million or .85 per common share. This restatement increased the reported income of the first quarter of 1971 by $54 million, or $.10 per common share.
