Show Orem-Geneva Times Thomas Funeral Services Friday Warren L. Thomas, 50, 931 W. Mountain View Circle, Orem, died at the Utah Valley Hospital Monday evening. He was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Provo, a son of Leo and Mable Snow Thomas. He married Anna May Wilklns on Sept 19, 1947, in Provo. Mr. Thomas was an Elder in the Orem 39th Ward. He was educated in Provo schools and he Joined the National Nation-al Guard at the age of 17 years and served in the Pacific for five years during World War H, His hobbies were golf, bowling, woodwork and camping. He was employed by U.S. Steel for 23 years at Geneva. At the time of his death, be was a spell foreman in the rolling mills. Survivors include his widow, Orem; three sons and one daughter, Russell WarrenThom-as, WarrenThom-as, Bruce Jones Thomas, Marsha Anne Thomas andStacy L.Thomas, L.Thom-as, all of Orem; one sister, Mrs. Archie (Wanda) Millett, Provo; three brothers, Jack Thomas, Richmond, Calif,; Ralph 'Buzz' Thomas, Clearfield; Neil Dee. Thomas, Bountiful. Funeral services will be held Friday May 19 at 11 a.m. at the Orem 39th Ward, 570 North 900 West, Orem. Friends may call at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary of Orera Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m, and at the church Friday prior to services. She was born Sept. 15, 1898, in Sheridan, Mo., to William Walter and Mary Elizabeth Plowman Scott. She married Andrew A. Johnson July 30, 1941, inLindon and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died July 18, 1962. He was born December 10, 1892, In Kanab, Kane County, Utah to Samuel B. and Sarah Ann Potter. He married Vi-late Vi-late Aston January 19, 1916, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a dairy and a fruit farmer. He was on the board of directors for the West Union Water Company for many years. He was a high priest and a home teacher. He is survived by his wife of Orem and two sons, Arlo B. Shumway, Verl A. Shumway of Orem; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, William Wil-liam Shumway of Orem; and three sisters, Alton Burningham of Orem, Pearl Anderson ofBur-ley, ofBur-ley, Idaho, and Beatrice Draper of Provo. Orem, died Wednesday Wednes-day of a heart attack. He was born July 15, 1923, in Sutherland, Suther-land, Millard County, to Harold LeFevre and Melda Barker Steele. He married Fay Etherington on Nov. 25, 1941, in Reno, Nev. He worked for Geneva Steel. He was a veteran of World War U. Mr. Steele was active in the LDS Church, serving as Scoutmaster and as sports director. Survivors include his widow, Orem; three sons and four daughters, Sandra Steele, Debera Steele, Steven Steele, Jeff; Steel,. Linda Steele, Jana Steele, and David Steele, all of Orem; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Skinner; three brothers and two sisters, Harold Har-old Steele, Clearfield, Ralph Steele, Orem; Dean Skinner. Montague Nellie Blair Montague, 83, 63-East 63-East 1600 South, Orem, died Wednesday, May 10 at the Central Utah Convalescent Center of an extended illness. Mrs. Montague has been a resident of Orem since January of this year, and is the mother of Q. Blair Montague of Orem. She was born October 4, 1888 at Lewiston, Cache Co., Utah, the daughter of Wm. M. Blair and Kathleen Norris. She was married October 2, 1912 to John David Montague in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Montague received her-early her-early education in Lewiston, Utah, and in the B.Y. Academy in Logan. She lived much of her life in Sevier County, Utah, and in Idaho. She was active in the LDS Church. Survivors include: Four sons and three duaghters; Wallace D. San Louis, Obispo, Calif.,; Q. Blair Orem; Glenn A., Santa Maria, Calif, and David 0. Sacramento, Sac-ramento, Calif.: Mrs. Blair (Marceline) Garner, Nampa, Idaho; Mr. J.W. (Maurine) E ver- -ton, Nampa, Idaho; and Mxs. Robert (Donna) Martindale, Las Vegas, Nevada; 34 grand children and 20 great grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13 in the 4thWard LDS Chapel, in Nampa, Idaho, and burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. State, Provo pfls h'f&JFW testis j Fred Nielson Dies At 81 Fred Nielsen, an 81-year-old Provo man, died Thrusday, May 11 at the Central Utah Extended Care Center of causes incident to age. He was the father of three Orem residents. Mr. Nielsen was born September 25, 1890 at Vernal, Utah, a son of Peter and Mattie Christina Nielsen. He received his early education in Vernal. He was married to Essie Mae Campbell December 24, 1910 at Vernal. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Mrs. Nielsen passed away December 1, 1968. The Nielsens made their first home in Vernal, and moved to Provo in 1928. In 1946 they moved to California, and then in 1951 until 1955 they lived in Washington where Mr. Nielsen worked for the Bureau of the Reclamation 'Crop of Engineers" En-gineers" as an inspector. He was a member of the LDS Church and was active as a Home Teacher. He has owned and operated a hobby shop in California Cali-fornia and Orem. He was an ardent fisherman and hunter. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Nielsen was a member of the American Legion Post 72, and served as Commander. He leaves: four sons Ray F. Nielsen, Orem; A. C. (Joe) Nielsen, Orem; F. Jim Nielsen, Spanish Fork; and Harold Gazrth Nielsen, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Flo-rida; one duaghter, Mrs. Willis (Evan) Elmer, Orem; and 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Har-vey C. Nielsen, Riverside, Califs and one sister, Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence (Elsie) Bixter, Longmont, Colo. Funeral services were held in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel in Orem, the interment was in the East Lawn Memorial Hills. Carter Services Held Wednesday Clara Hoier Carter, 77, of 761 W. 6th S Provo, died Saturday afternoon at the home of a daughter in Mapleton. She was the mother of two Orem residents, resi-dents, Clifford J. Carter and Mrs. Richard S. (Bertha) Allen. Funeral services were Wed. at Berg Drawing Room Chapel of Provo. Burial was in the Provo City Cemetery. Bishop Harold Jones officiating. Mr. Calder was born in Salt Lake City on July 14, to David George and Sarah Elizabeth Hague Calder. He married Leor a Stubbs on Jan. -3, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He received his early education in the Salt Lake City schools, and moved with his parents to Orem at the age of nine where he attended the Spencer School and graduated from Orem High School after his discharge from the Navy in December of 1919. Among his survivors was one sister, from Orem, Mrs. Lillian Salisbury. Salis-bury. Three sons preceded him in death. Burial was in the Provo City Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Dean Menden-hall Menden-hall Provo Post 13 of the American Ameri-can Legion.
