Show Zolintakis Vies For State Auditor At 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, Nick Zolintakis, a Democrat, put his Jhat in tee political ring announcing ior the office of Utah State Auditor. Mr. Zolintakis, an ex-GI, has' 29 years experience In the field of auditing. The last 18 years have been devoted to service for the State of Utah. He has been active in civic affairs and in youth programs. He is a native of the state and a graduate of the University of Utah with graduate grad-uate study In accounting. Nick," as he prefers to be called, was asked why he decided to run for the State Auditors Office. He explained, 'The least known about office instate government gov-ernment appears to be the office of State Auditor, and yet the man who holds this position literally holds the purse- strings of the state. State Ann Cooper Resigns As City Recorder In surprise action Monday Anne Cooper submitted her resignation as Orem City recorder, a post she has held for the past 16 years. Her resignation becomes effective July 31. It was a difficult decision to make" Anne said. "I have enjoyed my work here and everyone is so kind to me. As recorder Anne has been responsible for setting up accounting procedures, taking council minutes, general bookkeeping, book-keeping, permanent records, preparing the budget, and business licensing. Orem City Manager EarlWen-green EarlWen-green said Anne's resignation came as a complete surprise. He lauded her work with the city. She has kept abreast of the city's growth and has always kept the records in good shape. She has been a bulwark of strength and we all hold her in high esteem for the fine job she's done over a long period of time. Anne stated in her letter of resignation that she would complete com-plete the city books for the 1971-72 1971-72 audit. She also stated that Orem City's procedures are more up to date and more accurate than In many cities.She also made suggestions to better meet Orem's rapid growth in the future. These maybe considered by the city, Earl said, 'However, it's a step we hadn't planned to take for two years when Anne's natural retirement would come up." Mrs. Cooper was born in Krebs, Okla. She married Jesse Floyd Cooper in 1928 and they had three children. She moved with him to Utah in 1953 when he was transferred here from Casper, Wyo, by Keyes Tank Co., now Pittsburgh -Des Moines Steel Co. Mrs. Cooper said her son and one daughter live in Tulsa, Okla. and another daughter lives in Kearns, Utah. She has six grandchildren. Not one to be idle, Mrs. Cooper attended Casper Junior College in 1950 and studied accounting at that time. This led her to two accounting positions. She was employed for two years with Arvid Dodge CPA beforejoining Orem City in July, 1956. She also worked on a daily newspaper and was once a technician in an oil labratory 'I've never had a job I didn't like," Anne said. With such an attitude, why retire? 'Well, if it gets too dull I can always go back to work, Anne smiled. 'There's still so much I want to do. Hex plans are to take a month-long month-long trip and vacation, and perhaps per-haps to return to school after that time to study artI've always wanted to paint and learn ceramics. One of the highlights in Anne's-life Anne's-life thus far was being listed in the Marquis Who's Who of American Women. She was cited for meritorious service in government. Q. Anne Barrow Cooper Mexico Agrees To Protect Birds Extra protection will be given 32 new families of birds through recent amendments to a 1936 wildlife convention with Mexico, according to Assistant Secretary of the Interior NathaneilP.Reed.
