The concert, which features Bruce Hornsby and Shawn Colvin, will raise funds for the Park City Recycling Association and the Utah Open Lands Trust. The E-Town Radio Band comprises com-prises four Colorado-based musicians. musi-cians. They, along with speakers and other artists, combine their talents to produce environmentally and socially oriented programs, which are made available to National Public Radio affiliate stations. "This concert is not just about raising money," said Wendy Fisher of Utah Open Lands. "It's about raising people's consciousness." E-Town was founded in April, 1991 to inform and energize mass audiences on the challenges of living liv-ing with ourselves, our neighbors and our planet, according to Don Gomes of KPCW. Their programs normally originate origi-nate from Colorado. However, the Oct. 1 concert will be taped for broadcast from Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City. "We recognize the importance of joining forces in heightening the awareness of the issues our organizations are striving tu find , solutions for," said Mary Morrison, director of the Park City Recycling Association. The association provides expanded recycling facilities throughout Summit County. It also provides educational materials that promote the view of aluminum alu-minum cans, plastic and other products as resources rather than waste. f I J ' A i Y Bruce Hornsby, along with Shawn Colvin, will join the E-Town E-Town Band Oct. 1 at Abravanel Hall. Entertainer Shawn Colvin, who will join Bruce Hornsby and the E-Town Band, recently performed with Lyle Lovett at Wolf ' Mountain. Before the Lord" at Treasure Mountain Middle School on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. This program will include full production and visuals with all the power and impact audiences have come to expect from the Continentals. It's a contemporary musical musi-cal production that includes current top Christian songs, a special number for the children and a section featuring a preview of their new musical, "David a man after God's own heart." All of the young people who are part of the Continentals are carefully selected from among thou sands who audition annually from around the world. The program is fine-tuned during an intensive rehearsal camp in Southern California. Then each group leaves for an approximate 10-week tour throughout the United States and many foreign countries. ' In the last 27 years, more than 14,000 young people lave been a part of the Continentals, traveling millions of miles to every continent in the world (except '' 1 Antarctica), and more than 70 countries.
