TMMS eighth-grade promotion exercises were held June 11. by ANDREA MATHER Record staff writer The frantic sound of musicians wanning up mingling with voices of the audience enhanced the expectant feeling of the occasion. The stage was set with a podium, a clicked as student speeches and performances paid tribute to their classmates and their experiences at TMMS at the June 1 1 promotion program. Student Body President Brandon Boggs talked about the class service activities including buying rain forest land and raising has listened to Schiller's morning jokes for four years. Student Cat Elliot described Schiller as a cheerleader for their accomplishments. This particular class Travel study groups are in Yosemite, Edmonton The end of the school year often means teacher and student say goodbye. However, a group of Treasure Mountain Middle School teachers and students haven't parted company yet. Two such groups left for travel study trips on June 15. Teacher Martha Caffrey, who is on the Yosemite National ParkCatalina Island trip, said the 12-day excursion will include river rafting, rock climbing and snorkeling. The other group of teachers and students will go to Edmonton and Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. Teacher Kathleen Musser said the trip will feature hiking, white-water river rafting and a visit to North America's biggest shopping mall. Musser said she enjoys having the students do the cooking. On past trips, she said the students are careful shoppers and have successful meals while the teachers tend to "wing" it Caffrey said, "The most rewarding thing are the friendships you develop with the students." Camp participants will learn silk-screening, drawing, sculpture, painting, creative dance, nature walks, biology, puppet making and puppet show writing.
