So stop by for a test drive. After all, a Range Rover isn't something you'd buy every day. It is, however, something you can drive everyday. NEW 1992 Range Rover Power sun roof, leather interior, fully loaded. $36,995 RANGE ROVER 3711 SOUTH STATE STREET SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH 84116 (801)262-6401 A convenience store clerk requested a police fly-by June 8 after she noticed two men had been sitting in a car in front of the store looking in for a very long time at approximately 2 a.m. Apparently deterred from their errand by the sudden presence of an officer, the two left. Eight autos were burglarized in Park City during the night of June 8 in the Thaynes Canyon area. Thieves took everything from stereos to cameras to .38 revolver with four rounds. Police believe the incidents are connected, as seven of the vehicles had similar methods of forced entry. (The car was unlocked on the eighth.) Deputy Police Chief Lloyd Evans had suggestions June 16 foi avoiding auto theft: 1. Don't leave valuables in the car. This includes purses, electronics (such as radar detectors), day timers--any thing that might entice a thief into breaking in. 2. Record serial numbers on items which have them, such as car CD players. This increases the chance that the items will be returned to you if they are found. Although chances for recovery of stolen items is not tremendous anyway, Evans said, without a serial number, the chances are nil. 3. Neighborhoods can assist the police by calling in anything that seems strange or out of place. It is hard for an officer to determine what is "normal" in a neighborhood, especially in a resort town which has a large number of visitors. 4. If you have a really cool stereo, get a car alarm. A Rockhopper mountain bike was stolen from a Payday Drive residence sometime during the same weekend. It was valued at $600. A concerned citizen reported from ParkWest June 8 that two suspicious individuals in his neighborhood were looking under the hood of a car. Police arrived on the scene and arrested two juveniles for consumption of alcohol. It was reported at approximately 5 p.m. June 9 by a concerned citizen that a Jeep CJ7 was driving on a path below his home on Golden Eagle Drive. The driver apparently was drinking and running over small trees. A 29-year-old Park City man was arrested June 9 for spouse abuse and taken to the county jail. Fed up with the insults and barrage of bad manners she was forced to endure at the hands of a driver whose license number I'm tempted to report, a flagger on the Highway 224 construction crew reported the sap to the police June 10. Another vehicle burglary was reported June 10 at Keystone Court. And still one more--this one at Woodside on June 1 1 . The owner reported at noon that the air cleaner lid and filter had been stolen. (The question is: When was the last time he had his oil changed?) During the week of June 7 through the 13, the ambulance was called on nine runs. On June 7 the ambulance was called to Dugan's West at the resort center to assist a 68-year-old female from North Miami Beach, Fla., who had fallen and injured her shoulder. She was taken to Park City Family Health & Emergency Care. The ambulance volunteered the same day to stand by for the remainder of the Big BrothersBig Sisters bike race held at the Olympia Hotel. Luckily, they weren't needed. A 67-year-old female from Weehawken, N.J. was transported from Stein Erikson Lodge, where she fainted and fell, to the clinic for evaluation June 8. The ambulance was canceled en route from a motor vehicle accident in Park Meadows June 9. They were called to yet another motor vehicle accident June 9 at the intersection of State Road 224 and Old Ranch Road. A 22-year-old female from Kansas City, Kan., was taken first to the clinic and then to Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City for side and back injuries. A 68-year-old Park City man was transported from a Thaynes Canyon residence to the clinic after suffering chest pains. He was later transported to the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City, where he was admitted. A 38-year-old male from Agoura Hills, Ca., was taken from the clinic to Holy Cross Hospital June 11 after suffering from abdominal pains. The ambulance was called to the parking lot of the Park City Municipal Golf Course near Adolf s the same day to assist a 57-year-old man from St George, who had fainted. Upon their arrival, he appeared to be feeling better, but shortly thereafter went into a possible full arrest. He was flown by AirMed to Holy Cross Hospital. The ambulance assisted a 52-year-old female from Salt Lake City June 13 who fainted and fell at the Baja Cantina.
