Where once they stood and lit the way, In glory bright and broad display. Now mostly dark, though straight and tall Just one or two shout out to all, Come this way to Springville town When darkness has truly settled down. So now we ask the men who have the say, Will those tall poles again soon have their day Or will they silent sentinals always be, To decorate the freeway at great cost to you and me ..... We've wondered, haven't you? By Martin Conover Voter want state out of planning Recent results from the continuous Newswatch 2 Poll show that Utahns overwhelmingly over-whelmingly prefer local to state planning of how land should be used. Between June S and June 27, 400 potential Utah voters were asked: "Generally speaking, do you believe that our land use should be planned and administered ad-ministered from Salt Lake by state government or in the individual in-dividual counties by local government?" By state government from Salt Lake City 10 percent In individual counties by local government 54 percent No Opinion 3 percent Non response 33 percent In other Newswatch 2 polls, there have been strong differences dif-ferences of opinion on issues and candidates. But Utahns over whelmingly want the state to stay out of land use planning. Old and young men and women Mormon and non-Mormon non-Mormon Republican and Democrat all agreed on this issue. We begin to die as soon as we are born, and the end is linked to the beginning. There is no death! The stars go down to rise upon some other shore, And bright in Heaven's jeweled crown, they shine for ever more. I am dying, Egypt, dying. Never hold any one by the button or the hand in order to be heard out; for if people are unwilling to hear you, you had better hold your tongue than them. t'H.PilMt r ttl4Gti FtWtMl FOR SURE FOOTfNG ON LAN?
