Show elementary addition in Payson is complete enough to allow us to hold school there and should be completely finished within a week. We are also investigating the possibility of buying some relocatable classrooms to use on a temporary basis where we get large enrollment increases and do not have space available within the community. RIGHT BEHIND THE TRUCK... To bring you frie'ndly greetings from your new community, along with useful gifts and information. informa-tion. MARY KNITTLE San Page Ten The Springville Herald September 2. 1976 Hebo superintendent comments Many people are interested to know how our enrollments are coming for this year. Our preliminary data shows that if is slightly more than we projected last spring. We had projected a beginning enrollment of 10,921. Preliminary figures indicate we will probably exceed 11,000. The early figures are figures for the first two days of school, realizing that this article is written on ; Friday morning, the 27th. We will have full enrollment details out as soon as possible. There are still quite a few students who are enrolling late. ' We are experiencing some difficulty in finding space in certain areas of the District, , however, with the cooperation of parents we have been able to shift students to where space is available and hopefully take care of the increased enrollment at least for this year. We are going to try to keep ahead of the increases, if possible, by building additions and new schools as rapidly as the budget allows and the need is ascertained. The new elementary elemen-tary school in Springville is in the planning stages and coming along very well. SmokeySays: Veteran pensions support families Almost a million widows and 797,000 children of veterans are receiving pensions from the Veterans Administration despite the fact that the death of their husband or parent was not directly related to the service. In Utah there are 2,936 widows and 3,715 children receiving this type of pension, amounting to over $312,000 monthly payments, according to Elmer J. Smith, director of the VA Regional Office in Salt Lake City, Utah. Children's eligibility is sometimes overlooked by the family, Mr. Smith said. This would be in those cases where the mother is not eligible either because of her income, her remarriage, or perhaps a veteran during a period of wartime and then based upon the need of the widows, widowers, and-or minor children of the war veterans who died of nonservice-connected causes. The amount of pension is determined by the amount of annual income from other sources. In no case may a pension be made to a surviving divorce from the veteran prior to spouse with children whose the veteran s death. income is in excess of $4,500. Eligibility for VA pension is ' Children's eligibility, first predicated upon at least 90 however, is independent of the days of honorable service of the mother when the mother is not entitled to pension. Application should be made on behalf of a child or children to any VA office. of-fice. Each individual child has an income limit of $2,700 from all other sources. This figure is set by statute, and if the child has less than this amount, he would qualify for nonservice-connected death pension. The possible eligibility of all survivors is reviewed by the Veterans Administration when notification of death is received, but sometimes circumstances surrounding the veteran's death do not always provide information in-formation to identify all possible survivors. There are no income limits on eligibility for survivor benefits for spouses and children when the veteran's death was in the service or subsequent to his service but caused by a service-connected service-connected disability. If you need further information concerning death pension eligibility, you should contact the Veterans Administration either by telephone or at 125 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.
