Fast-pitch circuit ends season play Springville's fastpitch Softball team sponsored by "Anderson's Furniture" recently concluded a successful season by finishing in third place in the Spanish Fork City League. They posted an overall record of eleven wins and six losses and finished in fourth place out of twenty four teams in the Pleasant Grove invitational. "Zion's Bank" and the "Red Topper" tied for first place in league play and ' Anderson's defeated both these fine teams during the season. Gil White, who pitches for the Art City Nine made the following comments concerning this year's team. "In my opinion we had the best team in the league this year, our problem was that the games were spaced too far apart and with the majority of our guys playing church ball which involves slow pitch. "Your timing has to be affected af-fected when suddenly facing a fastball pitcher. We also found it hard to arrange practice sessions as many of our players traveled as far away as Salt Lake to play with us. "Next year we hope to be playing in the Provo major league , which will allow our squad two league games per week.'.' -.'!' ., .-. The Provo League plays a twenty game schedule divided into two halves. With the Provo All of Utah's Republican county commissioners know both GOP candidates for governor quite well. All 57 of them. Yet 52 of these commissioners have officially endorsed Leavitt for governor. Why? Because they've watched him as majority and miniority leader in the Utah Senate sponsor and support legislation giving local officials control of local affairs. Time and again Dixie has said that "the closer government is to the people the better it works." Utah's Republican county commissioners know the reasons why Leavitt should be governor. And, they want you to know. There is a reason why. Vote Leavitt for Governor on September 14th. i I i 1 lu Paid for by the Committee to Elect Dixie Leavitt Governor of Utah. Preston G. Adams. One player who won't be back next year is veteran catcher Hal Larson who will be living in Omaha, Nebraska for the next three years continuing his education. Hal batted in the leadoff position and two years ago while playing with the Springville Royals won the batting crown. He will be missed, especially his dependability.
