STAKE Utah writers to hold conference The League of Utah Writers' 41st annual Roundup will be held September 10, 11, and 12, ac cording to an announcement Dy Clarence Socwell, League president. A featured speaker for the event will be Nancy Stahl, whose syndicated column, "Jelly Side Down," appears in hundreds of newspapers. Other guest speakers include: Dr. M, Donald Thomas, Superintendent of Salt Lake City Schools; Jane Bergen, hand; writing expert and author; Robert Moore, poet and teacher; Louise Boggess, author, teacher, and critic; Iris Syndegard and Stan Taylor, writers; and columnist-writer, Vi Judge. Dr. Thomas holds two doctors doc-tors ges and has been an educator and superintendent of schools in four school districts from New York to California. He is also a writer of note. Jane Bergen, an authority in her field, is referred to as a Questioned Document Examiner in court cases. It is said that she can spot whether you love your father, have weak kidneys, are a potential suicide case, or have any potential in the literary field - all by the way you write. She is a psychology major and has done advanced study in grapho-therapeutics, grapho-therapeutics, questioned document examination, forgery and fraud detection, analysis of suicide notes, police instruction, medical hypnosis, court procedure, and typewriting analysis. She is the author of a book, Personal Identification, and another one, soon to be published, concerning the detection of potential suicides through handwriting analysis. The Roundup will begin Friday evening with a reception for members and guests at the Women's Council of Provo, 310 West 500 North, 7 to 9 p.m. Registration begins September Sep-tember 11, at 8 a.m. Saturday sessions will be at 9 a.m. and again at 1:30 at the Holiday Inn, 1460 So. University, in Provo. followed by an autograph party honoring guest speakers, and the Awards Banquet at 7:30. The Poetry Awards Breakfast will be held Sunday morning at beautiful quilts, handmade articles and a food fair with all v items donated to the fund raising , project. 'v - Vi - -w T The 1975 Festival was the best to date and raised $120,000 for the Medical Center, Mrs. Raydalch said. Last year, Mrs. Child was able to present the Festival with several full size quilts, as well as baby quilts, knitted and crocheted cro-cheted articles and a large quantity of delicious baked goods all given as gifts of love from Springville people. She extends sincere appreciation ap-preciation to all who helped and invites clubs and individuals to consider making quilts or other items again as a service project for this worthy cause. Grant Robbins announce the engagement and coming marriage of their daughter, Kay, and Jeffery Paul Banks, son of Mrs. Maxine T. Banks of Spanish Fork. The couple will be married September 10 and a reception is planned for that evening in the Kolob Stake Center from 8 to 10 p.m. Kay is a graduate of Springville High School where she was a member of the Springville Hi's. She has been attending the Utah Technical College at Provo. Jeffery is a graduate of Spanish Fork High School.
