Lady Utes hold their own with Judge The Uintah Lady Utes showed just what type of basketball they are capable of playing as they gave 4th ranked Judge Memorial all they wanted before dropping a hard fought game by the score of 37-40. The Lady Utes were down 7-10 after the first quarter and 14-19 at half. Some determined defense and a offensive spark helped the Uintah close the gap to two points in the 4th quarter. Despite outscoring the Bulldogs 11-10 in the 4th quarter, quar-ter, Judge made just enough free throws to hold on to the victory. Amy Parkinson led the Utes in scoring with 11 points, followed by Nicole Brady with 10, Krissy Hacking 6, Marissa Mckeachnie 5, Erin Busch 4, and Lindsey Buckalew rounded out the scoring with 1 point. "I was really proud of how well the kids played," said Coach Shanon Johnson. "We only gave up six offensive rebounds for the game and took care of the ball really well. Those two factors helped us to attempt more shots than Judge did." Buckalew took on the challenge chal-lenge of defending Judge's top player and leading scorer, Cleresa Roberts. With some help from Deanna Schroeder and the rest of the team the high scoring guard finished the game without a point. "Lindsey and Deanna have done a terrific job defensively all year long," said Johnson. "They just came off a game where they held Park City's guards scoreless in the second half. It takes a unique player who will put aside personal stats to focus on defense." Erin Busch came in the game and really gave Uintah a spark. Her field goal, offensive rebound and free throws came when they needed them. "Krissy, Amy and Nicole did a nice job on the boards," Johnson said. "Marissa gave us some solid leadership. Our record doesn't indicate it, but I think we showed we can play with the top teams in the state and I think the players are determined to show that as they finish up the year." 0 Q GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER? Ties will be broken by using the tie breaket. The person with thesmallest point differential between actual scoresand predicted scores will win the tie breaker. If after using the tie breaker there is still a tie, then whoever had the closest score to the winning team will be the winner.
