Show .Vernal Express. Winter road conditions cause forest closures The travel management plan for the Ashley National Forest designates Dec. 20 as the date for closure of most Forest roads. Most roads on the Flaming Gorge, Vernal, and DuchesneRoosevelt Ranger Districts are not accessible due to winter conditions. The closure allows other recreational uses of these areas. There are many recreational activities that are enjoyed on the Forest during the winter months when motorized vehicle travel on roads is prohibited. These activities include snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Always dress for the weather conditions and practice all safety precautions. It is wise to let someone know the location you will be recreating and your expected time of return. For information about your favorite winter activity or current road closures, call the Ashley National Forest at (435) 789-1181. Newborns Jarek W. I just want our town to be more beautiful." -McKenzie Durrant "One day I was in Whiterocks and saw people picking up trash on the road. It made me feel good to see that, and I wanted to help, too. I would like it if we could Adopt a Highway to help keep our community cleaner and nicer." - Dapree Honywnewa "I think we need a skate park so we can stop wrecking on the stairs. We could also use some cement here in Lapoint." - Alyssia Hatch. "We would like more money for our community. It doesn't seem like we get very much." -Chance Swain "I know we can do it. We can make Lapoint beautiful." -Josephina Valdez The County Commissioners said it was okay to make Lapoint prettier. We had four people in our group who our leaders (Jamee Hartle and Kippie Bergstrom) picked to say the biggest parts. They picked Jordyn Reary, Katelyn Huffman, Dakota Slaugh, and Bradlee Wallen. We have now started planning plan-ning out Project Townerriffic. We are ready to work, and we hope our town will support us. We believe in ourselves and that we can do it.
