The permits, which are free, are required for street parking in the residential-permit zones of Old Town. People who are applying for a permit for the first time are required to provide proof of residency such as a driver license, a utility bill, a property-tax bill or a lease. They also must provide a valid vehicle registration. For more information, call the Public Works Department at 615-5301. A man yelled at a woman claiming she took a parking spot, the police were told. • Someone called the police at 10:04 a.m. reporting smelling a natural gas odor on Estates Circle. The Park City Fire District was called as well. • Graffiti was reportedly found on a wall on the 1800 block of lower Iron Horse Loop Road at 9:41 a.m. • The police were called to the 1700 block of Park Avenue at 2:06 a.m., when 15 people were reportedly throwing cans around. The people might have been intoxicated, the police were told. Nobody was throwing the cans by the time the police arrived. • On Friday, Dec. 3 at 3:32 p.m., the police received a report of two young people being accused of shoplifting on the 1700 block of Park Avenue. • A driver hit another vehicle and left the scene along Deer Valley Drive. A van was hit, the police were told, and the person with the van might know the other driver. The police received the complaint at 2:53 p.m. • On Thursday, Dec. 2 at 10:56 p.m., people at businesses on Main Street were seen shoveling snow off a balcony. The person wanted an officer to respond. • A person contacted the police at 9:37 a.m. from Sun Ridge Drive with questions about purchasing a gun from someone else. The person wanted to learn how to ensure the gun was not stolen or used in a crime. • On Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 5:40 p.m., a laptop computer was reported missing from a place on Prospector Drive. The police classified the case as a burglary. • Someone on Azure Way called the police at 5:21 p.m. reporting that a person was staying in a residential unit. The person who contacted the police said beds had been slept in, laundry was in the washing machine and there were pay-per-view charges on the cable bill. The police classified the case as trespassing. • The police were called to the 500. block of Main Street at 1:38 p.m., when a salesman for a timeshare development reportedly was soliciting business on the street.
