BASDEN Of the Re corA staff lucked behind Wimly Uidge restaurant sils Julie Nesler Gallery a former warehouse lurned eon temporary exhibition space that features the work ol~ emerging Bay Area artists, among others. The walls are crisp while, the track lighting is modern and the concrete floor is stained to perfection. The floor space is bare, but the walls tell the story of artists such as (Jury Denmark, Marshall C'rossman, Michael Pauker and Gregg Chadwick. What was once a "mess" has lurned into Mark City's newest gallery off Main Street. Julie Nesler, art consultant and owner oT Julie Nester Gallery, says. "Before I moved I knew I was going to open u gallery here. I was just looking for the right space." Nester, her husband and two children moved from San Francisco to Park ("ity in April lo be close to family. Once Nesler found the right locale for her gallery, several weeks were spent tearing out ceilings, adding walls and installing lights. The result: an inaugural group exhibition and reception, which took place I'riday. Julie Nesler Gallery is now officially open for business. Art of all shapes and sizes fills the large space with bright colors, muted colors, warm tones and cool tones. Abstract, wildlife and the human form are centra! to each piece. Nester says, 'Tve got some really good feedback on this space and the art. When I was looking for a space I wanted an open, airy feeling. That is why I chose this warehouse space even though it's kind of out uf the way ... I wanted a big, open space and you can't find that on Main Street. So, I'm trading the street visibility for the space." Two local nonprofit organizations are now selling limited edition Christmas ornaments, both, however, fall on opposite ends of the spectrum. For years, the Park City Historical Society *S: Museum has commissioned livcal artists lo design their annual ornament. Watercolor artist Judy laylor has done most of the creative and design work. It has only been since 2000 that two-dimensional ornaments were introduced. During the 13-ycar history, several of the ornaments have sold out: the original Miners Hospital, which was redone in 201)3 as a twodimensional piece, the Coalition Huildmg, the Union Pacific Depot, where Zoom restaurant is now located, and the Kimbal!
