Not only was it the last major undertaking for the senior class, but it also marked the start of the schools two-week Christmas vacation. ' In 1947, the dance was such a key event that Dick Kofford, the chairman of the advertising committee, made sure that everyone was aware of the dance, even students as far away as Coalville, Heber and Kamas. C)n the night of Dec. 19, students gathered in the gym for the "Toyland"-thcmed dance, pictured above. Although "the Hop" was the seniors' event, all of the classes were inviled to celebrate the holiday season. Each of the classes decorated <i tree. 'Hie freshman, sophomore, and junior trees adorned the school halls (see the sophomore tree pictured right). 'Hie senior tree, the biggest of them all and the only one with lights, was set up in the gym. Their tree was so tall thai the slar at the top reached into the balcony. In addition, each class drew names for a gift exchange. Everyone bought someone else a small gift, which they then placed underneath the senior tree. If you would like to buy a gift to place under someone's tree, Christmas ornaments depicting the old Park City High School are Mill available. Visit the Park City Museum at 528 Main Street to purchase the ornament. •1984 • PARK CITY MUSEUM VICENNIAL • 2004 LUNCH BUITCLT • Now 7 DAYS A WEEJCI Barbara Minerva Buckner passed away peacefully Dec. 6, 2004 at her home in Francis, Utah.
