Show Wed/Thurs/Fri, December 8-10, 2004 B-11 The Park Record Habitat collects for auctions Kasey Kirklen, age three, examines her slightly over-sized gloves as she waits for her mother at Habitat for Humanity of Wasatch and Summit County's collection at the high school last Saturday. The event on Saturday was held to kick-off Habitat's newest fundraiser in conjunction with local eBay resaler It's a Done Deal. It's a Done Deal will be collecting items to auction off on eBay for the fundraiser, which is ongoing. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Habitat to help buy supplies for their building projects this summer in Heber. Habitat is looking for items over $50. The best items to donate include sports equipment, electronics, musical instruments, jewelry, watches, antiques, collectables, used cell phones and cars or car parts. Habitat will give receipts for all donations, so they will be tax deductable. For more information, or to make a donation to the fund drive, call Kaity at Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties at 640-6462 KIDS' KOLLECTIO io% OFF HDUCW •^,i- : . l • • • - - - . • - - - • , -••••f^M- •The newest Melissa & Doug toysij (•Custom Knit Scarves • Hand-crafted Blankets I*Specialty Towel & Bib Sets '•Gift Certificates & More! SCOTT $\V\&PARK RECORD Guard against fraud Some Holiday suggestions for retailors to proven I against fraud: All credit cards are embossed with an account number, valid from/through dales and a cardholder's name. The signature panel should be signed and should not be tampered with. 'Hie three digel security code should be in the signature panel. There have been recent cases where merchant was given a card similar in appearance to retail gilt cards with no raised lettering, and told that this was an "Internet" card and had.It* be hand keyed. The card numbers would later turn out to be stolen numbers, and the merchant would be forced to absorb any chargchacks associated with the transaction. Swipe or imprint the card if possible to help with any chargeback issues. Always try to obtain Ihe cardholder's signature on the receipt. If issuing a return due to cancellations, always credit the card used in the original transaction. Failure to do so could expose the merchant to chargeback liability. Do not issue a check for the refund. 'Iliere have been cases of people making reservations using stolen card numbers, and then canceling several days later and asking for a refund in the form of a cashier's check. Control access to issuing returns to prevent employees from issuing returns to their own credit cards.
