Show Zoning change approved By DO NET A GATHERUM Staff Writer KAYSVILLE Zoning changes that the city council refused refus-ed to approve in earlier meetings were finally accepted by council action ac-tion taken Tuesday evening, June 4th. The first area to receive rezone approval was an 11.49 acre parcel located at approximately 300 West Mutton Hollow Road. A zoning change for this property, owned by the American Red Cross, has been proposed for at least six months. The council, acting on the wishes of nearby residents, has refused to make any zoning change until a plan could be worked out by the de-vH"Tvr:, de-vH"Tvr:, Salt Lake Investment Company, that was compatible with the surrounding neighbors. Tuesday evening this goal was accomr ' ished. The council unmans .. ,ij .ippiov'cd a plan that converted the 11.49 acres from an A-l zone to an R-l-8. This will allow construction of homes on 8,000 square foot lots. The south and west end of the property will contain lots larger than the minimum 8,000 square feet to make them compatible with the larger lots already established that the new housing project will boarder. The council also gave preliminary plat approval to the first phase of this subdivision project. It will be called "Clover Meadow Estates." The other zoning change was a reversal of a zoning change denial that council made at its May 21st meeting. Originally the council denied a zoning change request that would have converted 18.57 acres of property prop-erty located at 300 West Burton Lane from A-l to R-l-20. The request re-quest was submitted by the Wilford Smith Family Trust organization. The vote to deny the request was split 3 to 2. Tuesday evening, the council reconsidered this request. Again the vote was split only this time three council members approved the change and two opposed it. Many of the lots proposed for this area will exceed the R- 1-20 minimum and will be more in keeping keep-ing with the larger lot sizes that most west Kaysville residents would like to maintain. |
