Show 'Shopping Spree' planned By JANIS STUART Staff Writer To some, it may sound like a dream come true, to others, it is a chance to help, and for some, it will provide much needed support. The annual 'Shopping Spree is being offered by the Davis Family Support Center. Three lucky winners will be chosen at a drawing on July 10, at 8 a.m., at the Layton Grocery Outlet at Fort Lane. Ticket holders will have the opportunity op-portunity to vie for one of three positions in the shopping spree. First place will receive a three-minute three-minute spree, second place will receive a two-minute spree and third place will receive a one-minute one-minute spree. On July 13, the three champions will test their shopping skills against the clock at the Layton Grocery outlet. The top three contenders will have a great grocery supply, but all who participated will be winners in the battle against child abuse. The event is a fund drive to aid the Davis Family Support Center at 1360 E. 1450 S. in Clearfield. The support center prov ides crisis child care, crisis counseling, parenting education, prevention education ed-ucation and children's therapy. The center also sponsors the "You're in Charge' ' program which teaches children how to protect pro-tect themselves in potentially abusive situations. Counseling services at the center include crisis intervention and individual in-dividual and family therapy. Therapies are designed to help dysfunctional families cope with such problems as physical, emotional emo-tional or sexual abuse. When indicated, in-dicated, approaches may include play therapy for the child and reconstructive therapy for the fami- Tickets for the shopping spree are available at any Circle K in Davis County, Layton Grocery Outlet on Fort Lane, and the Family Support Center. |
