Show Teaching teens teetotling traits More than three million teens will be involved in auto crashes this year resulting in over 8,000 deaths. The Bountiful Liberty Mutual office of-fice has prepared an informative handbook titled 'The Teenage Driving Years," as a guide for both teen-agers and parents. Liberty Mutual indicates that studies have found one-third of teen male drivers and one-sixth of teen female drivers killed in car crashes have higher than a .10 BAC (the legal proof of intoxication) of alcohol in their blood. Studies aiso indicate that the faster one drives, the greater the chances are of being killed or seriously seri-ously injured in an auto accident. Brad Braner, Bountiful resident sales representative of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, explains. "The teen years arc filled with new experiences and new decisions to make. Combined with peer pressure, these decisions are sometimes not the right ones and can lead to tragedy. Communications Communica-tions between parents and their children is an important means of establishing smart driving habits. "We urge parents to discuss with their children the many hazards associated as-sociated with driving. And, we urge teens to adhere to the rules set by their parents, since they're made because of concern for their safety," safe-ty," Braner said. |
