Show Teen Driving Facts This year more than 3 million teens will be involved in automobile crashes countrywide, with over 8,000 of our young people dying and thousands more injured. According to the National Safety Council, drivers between the ages of 16 and 20 and more likely than any other age group to drive while being alcohol-impaired. Alcohol is a factor in nearly half of all fatal car crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In addition, more than 8,000 sober drivers, passengers, and non-occupants will lose their lives in alcohol-related crashes. The chance of being in a fatal car crash is greatest between the hours of 8pm and 2am. More than one-third of all fatal roadway accidents occur during this six hour period. |
