Show Composers Guild to feature Bingham Composers Guild will feature an evening with Richard C. Bingham on Wednesday, March 13, 7:30 p.m. at the Marble House Gallery, 44 E. Exchange Place (between 300 and 400 South and State and Main Street), Salt Lake City. Bingham, a resident of Center-ville, Center-ville, is the former executive producer pro-ducer at Deseret Book, and is currently cur-rently senior account executive for Cassette Productions. He will address such subjects as what executive producers and acquisition ac-quisition and repertoire people are looking for in song submissions, and how to approach publishing or recording companies. He will also talk about how to get your songs recorded at affordable rates, choose an arranger, and get the right vocalist vocal-ist for your song. He will give pointers on how to facilitate the process of getting your songs chosen by a record company. In his present capacity he works with both existing recording companies com-panies and individual composers. Bingham's presentation is one of many activities sponsored by Composers Com-posers Guild in an effort to help composers at all levels improve their skills. This evening will provide pro-vide insight into what composers should know when they enter the songwriting market Future guild activities challenging challeng-ing musicians to compose and prepare new music are the July Americana 91 Concert and the 1991 Annual Composers Guild Composition Composi-tion Contest, deadline Aug. 31. The contest this year will include two new categories: OrchestraBand, and Young Composer (18 or under on Aug. 31). These will be in addition to the usual categories: Arrangement, children' s (music for children), choral, instrumental, keyboard, jazznew age, popular and vocal solo. To encourage young musicians musi-cians to get involved with the guild, associate membership is offered to family (child, grandchild, spouse or parent) of guild members.
