Show Tim Ross gives tips on weather Fair, "cool" and funny, was the report of weatherman Tim Ross' discussion at Bountiful Kiwanians luncheon, Tuesday. Channel 2s meteorologist discussed gathering data and interpreting inter-preting and broadcasting, then accepting ac-cepting blame if someone doesn't receive the right kind of weather. Ross told how he worked for years in Texas in the hope that he could come to Salt Lake City. When the opportunity came, there were 400 other applicants for the KUTV position. He sent some unusual pictures with his tapes and job history, which won attention as "you're my type of guy." He reviewed a dozen complaint letters, one of which was sent to him before he appeared on TV. He has been able to keep "gripe" letters in perspective, he said, as he recognizes that most of the venom is not directed at him as much as it is at what happened in the life of the complainer, and writers are happy to have a soap box and a target. In conclusion, Tim Ross said he feels it is important to give back to the community and to the people by offering any service he can. Kiwanians Kiwa-nians remained to ask questions and pick up Tim Ross fan club stickers. |
