Show Hansen 's action in Congress doesn 't represen t residen ts ' wishes Dear Editor Last Wednesday, Oct 3, before the House Subcommittee on Mines and Mining (of the Interior and Insular In-sular Affairs Committee), Jim Hansen ignored a perfect opportunity opportuni-ty to advance his pipeline bill out of committee and on to the floor. This pipeline bill (H.R. 4023) introduced by Jim Hansen on Feb. 20 would preclude the Wasatch Variation natural gas pipeline route. Since May of 1988, Hansen has told constituents and opponents of the Wasatch Variation, that he would help us prevent it. Since 1986, the FERC and now two pipelines have advanced the Wasatch Wa-satch Variation to a preconstruction reality. Since introduction of H.R. 4023, Jim Hansen has done nothing to assure or work for its passage. 4 With construction to begin early next year, residents, property owners, and communities now face the double barrel shotgun of what will be.Utah's largest natural gas pipelines. With survey and staking completed, and, condemnation proceedings pro-ceedings beginning, the 1 1th hour is upon us. Jim Hansen, will you stop the Wasatch Variation, as you said you would? Or would you have us believe that Utah's First Congressional Congres-sional District now represents the oil companies, southwestern Wyoming, southern California and the Williams Companies of Tulsa, Oklahoma (Kem River Gas Transmission Trans-mission Company).
