Vivian Stapley, of Bountiful, Boun-tiful, is the state chairman of the Red Ribbon Campaign 1989. She, ' along with hundreds of concerned citizens throughout the state and Davis County, are volunteering ' their . time- and means to bring "awareness 6f the drug roblemsf of our state and communities and to encourage commitment of, all citizens to live a healthy, drug-free life; , Emma Jean Gudd, Bountiful chairman, encourages all businesses, busi-nesses, churches, organizations, neighborhoods,, families, and "scouting to join with the youth and schools by .wearing red, displaying red Iribbons, flying red , flags, balloons, and ribbons, during the week of Oct 22-29 to show our commitment Let's liberate - our community, our nation, from the deadly grip of drugs, "It's Hot to Not" use drugs.. The red ribbon became the symbol to reduce the demand for drugs, just as the yellow ribbon symbolized the . . hostages in " Iran and the green ribbon symbolized the murdered children of Atlanta. " The Utah Federation for Drug-Free Drug-Free Youth is joining with the National Federation of Parents for Drug-Free Youth to participate in an. annual nationwide campaign to celebrate community .involvement and commitment .for a drug-free ..-.America- .".
