District's north plant: Expansion project will cost ah estimated $6. million and be completed in August 1990. "' ' '"' Farmington greenhouses okayed by council FARMINGTON - After spending spen-ding about a half hour on the wor- ding of a proposed amendment to the Farmington City ordinance controlling con-trolling greenhouse construction, the Farmington City council finally adopted an amendment that Will allow "non-accessory greenhouse? with no sale to the public on the premises" to be constructed in air R-2zone. This is a conditional use. . - The change in the city ordinance was made necessary because ofa request from Lagoon thajt they be allowed to construct greenhouses at the rear of some property that they own which fronts on Main Street1 The lots are deep and the people liv- ing nearby didn't seem to object to the proposal. - The. problem was that Main - Street property is zoned R-2 and this project would require a conditional condi-tional use permit. The ordinance lacked any provisions that would govern the plan Lagoon presented. : It, isn't anticipated that any other citizen of Farmington n will ever wantJ to construct a greenhouse similar to the ones proposed by Lagoon in an R-2 zone. |
