Layton immediately recovered a Roy fumble, and things were looking look-ing up for the Lancers until their very next play when Layton fumbled fum-bled and Roy recovered. Roy wasted no time in scoring after this fumble recovery. Justin Mansfield caught a pass from Berg and moved the ball 80 yards for the TD. Again, Woodbury's PAT kick was good. There was some excitement but no scoring in the fourth quarter. The Lancers, with a 3-2 region record, finished in third place. They qualified for a playoff game with Brighton this Friday. BONNEVILLE 34 CLEARFIELD 19 The final game of the Region One season for the Clearfield Falcons and the Bonneville Lakers ended much as expected with Bonneville scoring a 34-19 win. Bonneville secured the Region One title with this win, which completed com-pleted a perfect 9-0 season for the Lakers. Clearfield finished its first season sea-son under Coach Lund with a 0-5 region record and a 2-7 over-all record. re-cord. Throughout the season Clearfield Clear-field played sound football, showing show-ing signs of excellence in offense. They stayed close in nearly every region game but somehow were unable un-able to outscore their opponents. By DONETA GATHERUM ROY 21 LAYTON 7 Roy High capitalized on Layton' s mistakes to score three touchdowns and convert for three PATs in its 21-7 win Thursday evening. Layton got off to a bad start when Brian Taylor fumbled the opening kickoff. The Lancers recovered, reco-vered, only to lose the ball on their first play from scrimmage. It was Roy's ball on the five yard line. An illegal procedure call against the Royals prolonged the inevitable, but on the second play, the Royals handed off to Russ McBride, who carried the ball eight yards into the end zone. Jason Woodbury contributed contri-buted the PAT with only 1:56 having hav-ing been played in the game. Roy's second touchdown of the game was set up by an interception of a Lancer pass. Jeff Mager took a. pass from Darren Berg on the first play after the interception and ran the ball 42 yards for the TD with ' only 57 seconds left in the first half of the game. Again the PAT was . successful. Layton's only score came in the i third quarter when Chris Trujillo : recovered a Roy fumble in the end : zone. Sophomore kicker Chris : Henderson made the PAT.
