Whitesides McEntire, 70, of 1891 N. 400 W., Layton, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 1988 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City of kidney failure. She was born Dec. 5, 1917 in Layton, a daughter of Frank Lewis and Nettia Blinda Burton White-sides. White-sides. She married Ray Orton McEntire McEn-tire Dec. 10, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. : She was reared and educated in Layton, graduating from Davis High School in 1936. She also graduated gra-duated from Weber College in 1939. ; She was an active member of the Layton Seventh LDS Ward. She had served in the scouting program for over 17 years, serving in both cubs and Boy Scouts. She had also served in Relief Society, genealogy committee and in other auxiliaries. She had played the organ and sung in the choir. . She had worked at Hill Air Force Base from the time it opened until 1947. , She helped start the first school for the special education and handicapped hand-icapped children in Bountiful in 1954. She later helped as the school developed to move the school to Farmington where the Monte Vista School for special education and handicapped children is now located. lo-cated. She enjoyed sewing, especially quilting. She enjoyed art and participated parti-cipated in different bowling leagues for many years. X., . Surviving are her husband of Layton; three sons and two daughters, daugh-ters, Karl R. McEntire, Ogden; Bryan J. McEntire, Paxton, Mass.; John L'. McEntire, Kaysville; CAnne L. McEntire and Marilyn K. McEntire, both of Layton; 10 grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and three sisters, Reed B. White-sides, White-sides, Virginia; Elma Dickson, ILA B. WHITESIDES McENTIRE Morgan; Ima Harvey, Kaysville; Lois Jarman, Berkeley, Calif. She was preceded in death by one brother. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary. Funeral services on Oct. 17 were conducted by Bishop Kent Rampton. Family prayer was offered by Reed Whitesides; prelude, Gordon and Janice Steed; "In the Hollow of Thy Hand" by Jelina McEntire; invocation, Dewwy Pierce; speakers, speak-ers, Karl McEntire, Bryan McEntire, McEn-tire, John McEntire and Lynn Burton; Bur-ton; "O My Father" by Rex, Au-lene, Au-lene, Sally and Calvin Morgan, accompanied by Gordon and Janice Steed; remarks, Bishop Kent Rampton; medley by Reed Whitesides and Harris Adams; benediction, be-nediction, Hubert Fluckiger. Dedication of the grave in the Ogden City Cemetery was by Ardell Adams. Pallbearers were Karl McEntire, Bryan McEntire, Eldon Sill, Calvin Cal-vin Morgan, Jason McEntire, John McEntire, Reed Whitesides and Russell Nielson. |
