Show Lagoon rides may o soon go higher By VICKI CROCCO FARMINGTON Farmington City Council approved an ordinance ordi-nance change allowing for extended ex-tended height restrictions for new attractions and more interaction between Farmington Planning Commission and Lagoon's planners. plan-ners. A public hearing was held at the last meeting concerning the new ordinance and several citizens voiced their support of Lagoon Corporation and their contribution to the community. Lagoon spokesmen stated the company's thrust is to improve, not expand operations and expressed ex-pressed appreciation of the cooperation cooper-ation Farmington City Council has shown. In addition, there was a noise abatement amendment tabled for further research. In other business, city manager Max Forbush revealed that work including a traffic light on the She-pard She-pard Lane and Highway 89 intersection, in-tersection, where the Foxglove Smith's Shopping Center is located, lo-cated, has been approved. He said the project would not likely get started until early next year. The council responded by asking the manager to speed up steps toward the project completion. Permission to give the Kidney Foundation an alcohol permit for their fund raiser at Oakridge Country Coun-try Club scheduled for Sept. 19 was not granted due to a lack of seconding second-ing on the motion. Max Forbush commented the permit would create cre-ate "a bar for a day in Farmington." |
