Cabaness said members of the association were excited by the announcement. "It would be great to have the fairgrounds and the race track together again." He explained ex-plained that the association has had no facilities since Lagoon ended their contract with them five years ago. Cabaness said he understood that the ground-breaking ceremonies cere-monies for the new fair facility would be held in September. According to Commissioner Tip-petts, Tip-petts, that is not true. "I announced that we would be meeting with the horse people to review the possibility possibil-ity of a new site, but nothing is definite yet," he said. The commissioner commis-sioner explained this was the last year the county could use the Davis High facilities so in order to have a fair in the future, a new location loca-tion needs to be acquired. "If we get enough volunteerism and funding we will put the fair by the new jail next year. If not we may have to ban the fair for at least one year, but we'll make every effort to avoid that," said the commissioner. com-missioner. Commissioner Tippetts will meet with the parties involved in the next few weeks to review a possible possi-ble master plan. |
