Show Books for the ecology buff worth owning' point of view of what has to be done in the United States, underdeveloped under-developed countries and overdeveloped over-developed countries. There are some very interesting appendices in the back of the book which make the book worth it. They have reprinted the Constitution of the United States as was proposed by the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions. Both "Desert Solitaire" by Edward Abbey and "How To Be A Survivor" by Dr. Paul Ehrlich and Richard L. Harriman are worth owning and reading again and again. BY BILL WILSON Entertainment Writer I There are two books that every icology buff should read, if they fiaven't already. They are Paul t ihriich's new book, "How To Be fiiV Survivor," which is co-authored tiy Richard L. Harriman and Ed-tic-vard Abbey's book, "Desert Soli-pj'aire." Soli-pj'aire." Both of these books are out in paperback and are well worth the money. Abbey's portrays a piece of America that is quickly vanishing. The trip down the Colorado that he describes was one of the last before they dammed the river to form Lake Powell. Edward Abbey is a gifted writer who has a great deal of feeling for his subject. It is a concern that we should all share. He writes of Southern Utah with a vision that few have had and he gives his reader a new awareness of the world around us. The sub-title of Ehrlich's book is "A Plan To Save Spaceship Earth," and that is a very good description of what this book is.
