Show King Kong is heavy; 'just lay there' BY DARRELL ORGILL Entertainment Writer Acid blues! Rock and roll! They come on hard and leave you even harder. Rock guts! The logical extension of the Cream-Hendrix syndrome. Since their appearance at the Whiskey, just two short months ago, this band has caused more controversy than any other band since the legendary Mothers of Invention. Total theater! Shock Value! I spoke with Geoffery Bills - leader, singer and guitarist of the King Kong Blues Band VIA the Bell system: "We don't like labels; people have called us everything from sex-rock to the ultimate in absurdity . We just do our thing. If it gets people off, well.... that's what it's all about isn't it? People pay $5 to see some group put on a nice clean show that they can talk about with their friends. We reek havoc and total destruction on our audience. When it's time to leave, we want the audience to just lay there in ecstasy and cry for more." Is Salt Lake ready? Is the world ready for King Kong Blues Band? It happens on Jan. 22, in the Union Ballroom. Also playing will be Holden Caulfield, Wood, and Wambasa. Admission will be $1. |
