Show Block seating abolished ASUU presidential candidates was changed from the present 72 hour requirement to 60 hours. The reason given for the change was that elections are being held a quarter earlier than in previous years. Dryer proposed an Ad Hoc Committee for ASUU Student Lobby. Presently, there is no Legislative Relations Committee and with important issues such as the need for more money appropriated appro-priated by the state legislature to possibly avoid a tuition hike in the neai future, a need was felt for such a committee. It is also felt that a student should sit on Institutional Council. ' Executive Council voted 11-6 ' to abolish block seating Thursday. jThe issue is still scheduled, however, how-ever, to appear on an opinion -research poll for spring quarter "registration packets. Executive Council's action means that block seating can only be re-instated by next year'sicoun-cil year'sicoun-cil leaving the issue as a decision for each student government govern-ment rather than as a constitu-' constitu-' tional amendment. Advisory cabinet cabi-net had earlier voted 12-7 to keep block seating and a consent vote was taken in favor of placing the question on the up-coning election elec-tion ballot for a student vote as a constitutional issue. i: Election Committee was appropriated appro-priated $400 with a contingency 'of $200 for the up-coming executions. exec-utions. Money was needed for mail-;:ing mail-;:ing reminders - reminding students 'to vote, 15 telephones at a cost of ' $11.50 apiece one in each college 1 for a list of contingency, and student eligibility materials and ballots and computer time. Money was also suggested as an honorarium hono-rarium for a women's group who ::will act as polling judges because in the past there have never been ' enough students to man the polls. !: On the first vote the measure ::for more money for elctions was :rdefeated.
