Show Regents Appoint Social Worker To U Faculty Dr. Sherman Merle, one of the country's top social work educators, was appointed professor of social work Monday by the Board of Regents. Re-gents. Dr. Merle is currently assistant dean of student affairs and associate associ-ate professor of social work at cil on Social Work Education in New York City. ' Dr. Merle received his B.S. degree de-gree in 1951 from New York Uni- j versity, his M.S. degree in 1333 from Columbia, and his PhD from Brandeis University in 1968. Rutgers University. He will join the University faculty September 1. Dr. Merle is a board member of the 45,000 member National Association Associ-ation of Social Workers and chairman chair-man of its cabinet of professional standards. Dr. Merle is also a consultant con-sultant for a project of the Council on Social Work Education on innovative inno-vative and integrative teaching in schools of social work in the United States.
