Show fATHER VALINE ANNOUNCES HOLY WEEK SERVICES ' By Rev. J. H. Valine, OP.. On Sunday morning, Nov. 27, 1955, our secular papers carried an account that startled both the clergy and laity of the Catholic world. We saw there annpunced a complete change of the liturgical litur-gical program for Holy Week. Our anxiety, however, was set at rest when we read the decree itself ordering the change. The underlying thought and purposes pur-poses of the change are ex-I ex-I pressed in the decree itself, namely: "It is the intention of the restored Qrdo of Holy Week that, with the venerable liturgical liturgi-cal services of these days restored re-stored to the hours that are proper and opportune, these liturgical li-turgical services can be attended attend-ed more easily, more devoutly, and more fruitfully by the faithful. faith-ful. It has seemed opportune to this Sacred Congregation of Rites that the faithful be . led more securely to derive richer fruits from a living participation participa-tion in the sacred ceremonies." In accordance with the de-1 cree, therefore, the services for Holy Week at St. Bridget's Catholic Church will be as follows: fol-lows: Holy Thursday, March 29 Mass o'f the Lord's Supper at 7 p. m., followed by Procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the Repository. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will continue until midnight. Good Friday, March 30 No services in the morning. Stations of the Cross at 2:30 p. m. Mass of the Pre-sanctified at 3 p. m., at which mass the faithful faith-ful may receive Holy Communion, Commun-ion, observing the ordinary Eucharistic fast.
