Edilor Phone 150 r THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY met at the home of Mrs. Vera Bond, Nov. 21st, and held their regular business meeting. Mrs. Louise Briscoe, president, was in charge. Plans were made to offer assistance to the city in their Christmas decoration program, and with the Community Christmas Christ-mas Tree. Mrs. Dora Smithson, membership chairman, reported that the unit has 65 paid-up members ,with a quota of 66. After the business session, the hostesses, Mrs. Bond, Mrs. La-priel La-priel Banks and Mrs. Noma Bradshaw, entertained the members. mem-bers. Pinochle was played, Mrs. Phylis Price, Mrs. Alice Miller and Mrs. LaRene Neal receiving prizes. After the game of cards, refreshments were servd by the hostesses. r THE LADY FIREMEN of the B of L F & E held their annual an-nual Thanksgiving Dance Friday, Fri-day, Nov. 18th. Everyone had an enjoyable time- Vance Fisher Fish-er and his orchestra furnished the music. At midnight, a buffet dinner was served by the committee, Phylis Erickson, Roma Carlton, Alma Sly, Jerry Memmott, Virginia Vir-ginia Grimes and Maurene Miller. MILFORD VALLEY .Past Pres;dent's Parlor No. 21 met at the home of Mrs. J. D. Johnston on Nov. 17th. A delicious din- ner was served at 1 .30 by the hostess, who was assisted in serving by Mrs. A. H. Connell and Mrs. T. Blake. Regular business was held, conducted by Mrs. James P. Holm, president. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in sewing and planning for a Christmas party. Other members present were Mrs. W. G. White, Mrs. O. R. Smith, Mrs. Glen Barnes, Mrs. Kenneth Hollis, Mrs. V. Shin-gleton. Shin-gleton. Mrs. Blake was a guest. SEGO LILY Division No. 500 held its regular business meeting meet-ing and social at the home of Mrs. Kimball Coon, Nov. 17th. Mrs. Eva Banks, president, conducted con-ducted a short business meeting and reported on the Ogden trip. A delicious salad course was served, and the remainder of the evening was spent in playing bridge, with prizes being won by Mrs. Wanda Holm, Mrs. Garnet Gar-net Garfield, Mrs. Esther Blake and Mrs. Garnetta Hollis. Members Mem-bers present were Mrs. Roma Carlton, Mrs. Garfield, Mrs. Ethel Smith, Mrs. Phyllis Erickson, Erick-son, Mrs. Marve Connell, Mrs. Holm, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Patricia Baker, Mrs. Banks, Mrs. Kath-erine Kath-erine Shingleton, Mrs. Mae Col-burn, Col-burn, Mrs. Florence Barnes, Mrs. Virginia Ryan, Mrs. Garnetta Gar-netta Hollis, and Mrs. Lora Bradfield. Hostesses were Mrs. Coon, Mrs. Kate McDonald, Mrs. Freda Smith and Mrs. Margaret Lund. MR. AND MRS. EARL THOMPSON, Mrs. D o u g las Blackburn and daughters Ann Louise and Jackie, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Delos Hollis and Mrs. Ben C-oper attended the wedding of Val E. Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thompson, in Salt Lake Friday, Nov. 18th, when he took the lovely Miss Dorothy Caldwell of Tooele as his bride. The wedding ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's sister in the Capitol City. Only immediate members of the families attended the well-planned well-planned affair. A recepion was held Friday evening in the St. John recreation recrea-tion hall. The newlyweds" left immediately after the reception for a wedding trip to California. They will make their home in Todd Park, Tooele. MRS. JAMES P. HOLM, assisted as-sisted by Mrs. Belle Janes, entertained en-tertained the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Saturday afternoon at the Holm residence. The meeting meet-ing was conducted by Captain McKnight, and the lesson was given by Emma Smith. A salad course was served after the meeting. The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Powell Smyth. MR. AND MRS. JAMES P. HOLM entertained with a birthday birth-day dinner for Mrs. Mary Whiting Whit-ing of Caliente, Nev. Turkey dinner was served to the following: fol-lowing: Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hedges of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. C. Whiting of Caliente, Mrs. Belle James, Mr. and Mrs. Bud James and Terry, Mr. and Mrs. Tom James, Patsy, Danny, Tommy and Jimmie. Mrs. Whiting received many lovely gifts. THE LADY TRAINMEN held regular election of officers at their last meeting. Zella Whiteside, White-side, outgoing president, conducted con-ducted the meeting. New officers are Ruby James, president; Belle Palmer, vice president; Eva Stonehocker, secretary; Lillian Mellor, treasurer; treas-urer; Helen Bracken, conductress; conduc-tress; Cleo Labrum, chaplain; Helen Leech, warden; Mary Gribble, inner guard; Ella Edwards, Ed-wards, outer guard; Melba White, legislative representative representa-tive with Lillian Mellor, alternate; alter-nate; Eva Stonehocker, delegate, and Mary Gribble, alternate. After the meeting, the ladies adjourned to the home of Mary Gribble, where bridge was enjoyed. en-joyed. Lillian Mellor assisted Mrs. Gribble in entertaining. : Mrs. A. G. Hedges of Salt Lake is visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Belle James. AN ARCH of lighted candles and flowers was the setting for the wedding of Miss Hazel Sherwood, Sher-wood, daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sherwood of Minersville, Min-ersville, and Royal Jay Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rogers of Milford which was solemnized solem-nized at the home of the bridegroom's bride-groom's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Rogers, in Salt Lake City on Nov. 10th. Bishop Dennis Dial of the Granger First L D S Ward, read the ceremony. The bride chose as her wedding wed-ding gown a dark blue spor suit with gray jacket, and wore a beautiful corsage of seasonal flowers. Mrs. Rogers was graduated from the Milford High School, and since graduation had been employed in Salt Lake City. The bridegroom, also a Milford High School graduate, is employed em-ployed by the Western Rock Manufacturing Co., in the Capitol Cap-itol City. Dr. Llloyd F. Kohler was called to Salt Lake City last Tuesday because of the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. Fred Kohler. Harold and Sam Cline spent three days in Salt Lake last week, on legal business. Bill Tribole left last week for Long Beach to spend two weeks visiting his brother and sister-in-law, and get acquainted with his new nephew, Joseph F. II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tribole. Bill also will visit a buddy at Whittier and his cousin cous-in and her husband, Dr. and Mrs. Heywood, at Chula Vista. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Banks and children will join Mr. and Mrs. George Tait and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Banks at Enterprise, Enter-prise, and tjie group will motor to Hiko, Nev., to spend Thanksgiving Thanks-giving at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Nesbitt. They also will visit Mr. and Mrs. Melvin I Tait while in Hiko. |
