Show NEXT WEEK IS SYMPHONY WEEK November 25 to 30 has been declared Utah Symphony Week by decree of Gov. J. Bracken Lee, to lend impetus to the symphony movement. Maurice Abrivanel, who is recognized as one of America's outstanding conductors, arrived home from New York last week and has started to mold 80 musicians into what promises to be Utah's finest symphony orchestra. Opening concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Salt Lake Tabernacler and will feature two of the great favorites favor-ites in symphonic literature--Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony" Sym-phony" and "Scheherazade," by Rimsky-Korsakoff. In addition, two popular short works of note, the Beethoven "Egmont" Overture and "Polka and Fugue" Fu-gue" from Weinberger's Schvan-da, Schvan-da, have been listed by Director Abravanel. In addition to nine concerts in Salt Lake City, eight of which will be staged at the Tabernacle ai;d one at the University 0f Utah, other concerts axe being scheduled thruout the state where they are desired.
