Show I Of Interest to Women BY'PATRICIA WILLIAMS i EDDIE SMITH was 13 years old last Saturday, Dec. 13. A party was given in his honor, with the following girls and boys present: Kent Kinross, Patty Smith, Gary Bingham, Donald Bau-dino, Bau-dino, Lynn- Stott, Bert Carter, Joan Barnes and Nancy Lee Smith. Cake, ice cream and punch were served. Eddie received re-ceived many lovely birthday gifts. Leon Williams has purchased the Leonard Banks home, it was learned today. MRS. WAIMA NEELEY HOLM was honored at a lovely surprise shower last Saturday afternoon, given by a group of her friends in the L. D. S. chapel. The honoree was called from her work at the Milford State Bank to receive the many useful use-ful gifts and congratulations of her friends. Bingo was enjoyed en-joyed during the afternoon with appropriate prizes being award- I ed to Katherine Holm, Betty Stewart and 'Mrs. Duart Evans. Refreshments were served late in the afternoon. ' Mrs. Holm is the former Waima Neeley, daughter of Mrs. Rachel Neeley of Milford. She received her schooling in the Franklin, Idaho, schools, and for the past year has been an ; employe of the Milford Slate ' Bank. i Charles Holm is a son of Mrs. Lucy Elizabeth Holm of Mil-I Mil-I lord. He was graduated from ; the Milford High school, and ; served with the United States Army in the overseas theater. He is now employed at the Horn Silver mine. The couple will make their home in Milford. THE THURSDAY NIGHT Bridge club was delightfully entertained on the evening of December 4 at the home of Mrs. Sam Cli ie. After a light lunch the time was spent at bridge, with prizes being awarded to Mrs. George Moore for points, Mrs. J. H. Weston, honors; Mrs. Joseph R. Murdock, consolation and Mrs. Val Yepsen, a former member of the club, guest prize. Others present were Mrs. V. L. Boucher, Mrs. D. E. Kirk and Mrs. E. L. Smith. THE PAST PRESIDENTS of the American Legion Auxiliary enjoyed a Christmas party on Wednesday of last week in the home of Mrs. Erma Cline. Present to enjoy the hot supper sup-per and social chat were Mrs. Mary Williams, Mrs. Ethel Nielsen, Niel-sen, Mrs. Ethel Smith, Mrs. Dora Smithson, Mrs. Magdalena White, Mrs. Naomi Hughes, Mrs. Ruth Leany, Mrs. Letha Smyth, Mrs. Nina Bingham and Mrs. Metta Weston. Gifts were exchanged, and Mrs. Smithson won high bridge prize, Mrs. Bingham, honors, and Mrs. Leany, consolation. VETERANS The deadline for reinstating G. I. AFTER A delicious turkey dinner in the Relief Society rooms, enjoyed by the 29 members mem-bers present, the G. I. A. ladies installed officers to serve for the coming year, adjourning to the I. O. O. F. hall for the installation in-stallation ceremonies. Officers installed were Mrs. Kenneth Hollis, president; Mrs. R. E. Banks, vice president; Mrs. Vern Shingleton, past president; pres-ident; Mrs. David Erickson, secretary; sec-retary; Mrs. R. B. Colborn, treasurer; Mrs. Paul ' Crum, chaplain; Mrs. John Lee, guide; Mrs. J. E. Moore, sentinel; Mrs. W. G. White, relief secretary; Mrs. Frank Sullivan, flag bearer; bear-er; Mrs. G. C. Cuddy and Mrs. J. P. Holm, marshals; Mrs. V. Boucher, Mrs. A. L. McDonald. Mrs. Harry Garfield and Mrs. Fay Bradficld, pillars; Mrs. J. D. Johnston, musician. Other members present were Mrs. Heber Myers, Mrs. Spencer Whitaker, Mrs. Walter Carlton, Mrs. Glen Barnes, Mrs. Kimmel Coon, Mrs. Harry Mills, Mrs. N. E. Smith, Mrs. O. R. Smith, Mrs. A. H. Connell, Mrs. M. M. Vincent Vin-cent and Mrs. H. M. Blake. The committee consisted of Mrs. Holm, Mrs. Cuddy, Mrs. Whitaker, Whit-aker, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Barnes, Mrs. Colborn and Mrs. Brad-field. Brad-field. Prizes at bridge were won by Mrs. Boucher, honors; Mrs. O. R. Smith, points, and Mrs. Blake, consolation. Prizes at 500 were won by Mrs. Crum, high; Mrs. Marvel Connell, "medium"; "me-dium"; Mrs. Colborn, low,, and Mrs. Sullivan, second high. The house prize was awarded to Mrs. Erickson. a MRS. CLARK GOODWIN announces an-nounces the engagement of her daughter, Miss Donna Muir, to Mr. Don B. Ashworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ashworth of Milford. The wedding will take place during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Morgan of Beaver were dinner guests last j Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Stott. ! Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Root have returned to. Milford to make their home after residing in Kelso, Calif., for some time. Mr. Root is employed in the Union Pacific storehouse. Thurland D. Sly, grievance chairman of Milford Lodge No. 439, left Thursday for Los Angeles, An-geles, where he will attend a meeting of the general grievance griev-ance committee, called to elect a general chairman for the South-Central Division. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Edwards of Beaver are visiting at the Thurland Sly home. Mrs. Sly is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. |
