Show MINERSVILLE COUPLES TO CELEBRATE WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES NEXT WEEK The family of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Gillins will honor the couple at an open house reception, re-ception, in observanae of their Golden Wedding anniversary, anni-versary, Sunday, December 21, at their home in Minersville. Miners-ville. Guests will call from 2 till 9 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Gillins were married December 21, 1897, in the St. George L. D. S. Temple. They have made their home in Minersville for the 50 years of their married life. Heber Gillins was born Jan. 19, 1874, a son of William and Elizabeth Gillins. Hp nhtainoH Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Myers of Minersville will observe their sixtieth wedding anniversary anni-versary when they invite their friends and neighbors to lenjoy an afternoon of entertainment, enter-tainment, reminiscence and light refreshments at their home in Minersville, the afternoon aft-ernoon of Friday, Dec. 26. Married in Beaver on December Decem-ber 26, 1887, by Bishop James McKnight, they later were married mar-ried in the St. George L. D. S. Temple, consecrating their pre-.. ..vious wedding. Mr. Myers was born in Beaver, Beav-er, Dec. 8, 1866, a son of Joseph and Sarah Myers. Mrs. Myers er, Dec. 8, 1866, a son of Joseph and Sarah Myers. Mrs. Myers was born in Minersville, Feb. 14, '872, to Edward and Sarah Bradshaw. Their entire married life has been spent in Minersville where both have been active workers in the L. D. S. Church. Mr. Myers has been superintendent of the Sunday school, Elder of the Quorum, and home missionary. mission-ary. At present he is a high priest. He also served as water-master water-master for the Town of Minersville, Miners-ville, town marshal, mayor, and road supervisor. His early life was spent in mining and freight hauling for the early-day mines, and in later years he has been engaged in farming. Mrs. Myers' church activities include several terms as president presi-dent of the Relief Society and M. I. A. and Primary. She has i'lso served as secretary of the Relief Society for a period of 10 years, as a visiting teacher for many years and served with Mr. Myers as ward missionary for one year. Children of the couple include in-clude Claud J. Myers and Mrs. Ellis LeFevre of Craig, Colo.; Mrs. Ray Messinger of Los Angeles, An-geles, Mrs. Ivan McKnight, Mrs. Parley B. Fisher, Mrs. Clair Gillins, Gil-lins, all of South Milford; Victor Myers. Mrs. Goldie Marshall, Obra Myers and Mrs. Dnisel Davis of Minersville. a common school education at Minersville, and in his youth worked with his father, later being admitted to a partnership in the business of farming and stock raising. After his father's death he settled the estate and has since continued in the business bus-iness on his own account. He was one of the first Milford Valley Val-ley farmers to turn to commercial commer-cial potato raising. He was ordained a counselor to Bishop Williams in 1917. He was a member of the High Priests' Quorum of the L. D.S. church, has been a ward teacher teach-er in the same church for many years, and also was a member of the town board of Minersville for several years. In September, Septem-ber, 1946, he suffered a stroke and has since been an invalid, missing his participation in the I active civic and social life of the community. j Mrs. Alba E. Marshall Gillins was born in Minersville August 22, 1878, a daughter of George and Rachel Thrower Marshall. She grew up in Minersville and attended the local schools, and later studied at the Brigham Young University at Provo. In her girlhood she was employed at the Minersville Co-op store. Active thruout her life in church work, Mrs. Gillins served as counselor in the Pri- mary for eight years and as a counselor in the Relief Society for four years. She was president presi-dent of the latter organization for four years, a Relief Society teacher for many years, and is a charter member of the Lincoln Lin-coln camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She always has been a good neighbor, assisting the poor and cheering the sick. Nine living children of the couple are Mrs. Vella Steven-sen Steven-sen of Caliente, Mrs. Ruth Hay-ward Hay-ward of Ruth, Nev.: Norman Gillins of Ogdcn. Clark Gillins of Beaver, and Clarence. Hilton and Heber Gillins and Mrs. Rachel Eyre and Mrs. Irma Eyre of Minersville. They have 19 grandchildren and one great-1 grandchild. |
