Show "IRumfnator In which anyone and everyone every-one ls invited lo express an opinion about anything and everything that will help Mil-ford Mil-ford so long as they don"! cuss no one out" that priv-, priv-, ilege is reserved. ft Ruminator has been besieged with comments and queries relating re-lating to the "folding up" of the milk route, recently, which distributed Arden milk. We dont have first-hand information in-formation on all the details, but will pass on the facts we do know, and the heresay which we believe to be correct. Arden milk was first introduced intro-duced to Milford by Gordon Murdock at the White Market The "new" milk proved popular with housewives and was also placed on sale at the Jefferson Mercantile Co. A milk route, to deliver Arden Ar-den milk, was started, at the suggestion, it is said, of the district dis-trict manager for Arden. The Milford retail stores, "stuck" 'with about 500 quarts of milk, canceled their orders, and the district manager report- aiier investigating the reason for the cancellation, exacted ex-acted an "unreasonable" cash deposit from the operators of the milk route, who were forced to discontinue delivery of milk because of the high cash deposit. de-posit. That's the story as we get it. and apparently the only person to be censored is the Arden district dis-trict manager, not the local merchants or the milk route operators. op-erators. We received at least a dozen phone calls the past three days we received at least a dozen phone calls the past three days from happy Milford residents who wanted to be sure we'd pass out a few words of praise to the City Trustees and the American Legion Auxiliary and other organizations for the splendid job of decorating the streets, vacant store windows and vacant lots, carrying out the Yuletide spirit and letting all persons know that , Milford can really "put on the dog" when we want to. It's a swell job, and we don't think any town or city in the state looks nicer. Dear Ruminator: For all the years I have lived in Milford, using the city water, I have wondered what they were charging for. Usually, not enough pressure to wash dust out of a walk. But with the new well cut in on the 16th, there is at least a 50 per cent improvement in the pressure. Now, if we could only have one-third the improvement in our electric power as the new well has made in the water pressure, pres-sure, we of the City of Milford ' would have something to be proud of instead of something to cuss every time there's a little lit-tle windstorm. BEN BRISCOE. Mr. R. K. Batten of Los Angeles, An-geles, one of the publishers of the "Aviation News Beacon," a newspaper devoted to helping private pilots develop their air mindedness and assisting them with their problems, dropped in at the Milford Airport Thurs- ' day to chat with Manager Ben Hillman and get "the dope" on any help this area could use in publicizing our air facilities. Mr. Batten was on the return leg of a several-thousand-mile air jaunt, during which he called on scores of airport managers. |
