Show COMIC BASKETBALL GAME PLEASES MILFORD FANS The Milford "Has-Beens" defeated the Milford M-Men in a hilarious (alleged) basketball bas-ketball game Wednesday evening eve-ning in the High School Gym, sucked in their paunches and shouted a challenge to the Milford High Tigers and, after visiting dire curses on the guys who stole their crutches they announced the Has-Bieens Has-Bieens would be ready for the Milford Legionnaires as soon as their coach had scoured the back alleys for additional talent. Running onto the court at a snail's pace, the old-timers got stage fright when they saw the huge crowd . of booing spectators, spectat-ors, and never ventured nearer near-er the basket than- the foul line, 'iowever, aided by two-pointers from Roldo Turner, tossed into .he air from the vicinity of Fillmore, and half-hearted tries from mid-court by Smoky East-on, East-on, they eked out a 41-39 decision deci-sion and immediately swelled up to bursting point. Their long handled red flannels and hip-booted, hip-booted, sombrero outfits weighted weight-ed them down to the point of exhaustion before the game was two minutes old, and their disappointment dis-appointment at receiving water instead of Old Crow in the Old Mr. Boston bottles was evidenced evi-denced by howls of anger at their "water boy." The only "Has-Been" that was happy about the refreshment deal was Lucky Dude Hollis. who was handed a "tittie-bottle" filled with pure white milk to revive him during time-out periods. It was a lot of fun for the par-, ticipants and a swell show for the spectators. A game will be I played with the Milford Hish Tigers at an early date, with proceeds going to the scoreboard score-board fund. |
