Show Of Interest to Women BY PATRICIA WILLIAMS I ( MRS. BERTHA HICKMAN 1 entertained her bridge club Wednesday night. Prize for high points was won by Dora Smithson, honors by ' Lena Morris and consolation by ' Flossie Rickerson . High house prize went to Nina Bingham, and low house prize to Garnetta Hollis. Those present were Flossie ' Rickerson, Dora Smithson, Cora Jones, Lena Morris, Theressa ' Pitchforth, Garnetta Hollis, Nina Bingham and the hostess, Bertha : Hickman. THE LADIES OF Silver Desert Des-ert Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, held their regular meeting this week at the home of Mrs. Ethel Nielsen. Hostesses for the afternoon were Ethel Nielsen, Asenath Pool, Lou Moore and Wanda Holm. Twen-' Twen-' ty-three members and guests attended, at-tended, and enjoyed the delicious deli-cious refreshments served at the' close of the business session. j MRS. JAMES HOLM and Mrs. W. A. Smith were hostesses at a bridge party given in honor of Mrs. O. A. Steenbock, a former , resident of Milford who now re- sides at Bountiful. High point prize was won by , Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, honors by Mrs. I. Altman, and consolation went to Mrs. N. Palmer. Others present were Mrs. Vern Shlngle- ton, Mrs. Letty Fojheringham, Mrs. J. Rice, Mrs. Steenbock, and the hostess. STEVEN CARTER celebrated his eighth birthday on Wednesday, Wednes-day, October 1. Birthday cake, and ice cream were served the guests, and a gumdrop dog was given each child as a favor. The group adjourned to the Firmage theater, where they enjoyed en-joyed the show "Stallion Road. Steven received many lovely presents from his many friends, Sally Edwards, Lynette Bracken, Brack-en, Clare Williams, Bobby Melton, Mel-ton, Elmer Barnes, Lola Young, Tanya Berry, Kathryn Miller, Arlene Tanner, Lucille and Belly Ferguson and Dennis and Donald Whitlaker. MRS. D. E. KIRK entertained members of the Thursday Night Bridge club and guests, Friday evening, Oct. 3. After a dessert lunch, the time was spent playing play-ing contract bridge. Prize winners were Mrs. George Moore, points; Mrs. J. D. Johnston, honors, and Mrs. J. II. Weston, consolation. Others present were Mrs. Selar Hutch-ings, Hutch-ings, Mrs. J. R. Murdock, Mrs. E. L. Smith and Mrs. V. L. Boucher. e AFTER THEIR separate lodge meetings, the Engineers and the G. I. A. Ladies joined in a social evening of refreshments and cards. Special guests were Mr and Mrs. Briree, Mr. and Mrs Olson, and Mr. and Mrs. Pea cock of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Smith, Mrs. Shin gleton, Mrs. Morris of Salt Lake Mrs. Ewing of Ogden and Mrs Steenbock of Bountiful. High prizes at bridge wen won by Mr. Edgar Moore anc Mrs. R. E. Banks, with low go ing to Mr. William Ashwortt and Mrs. Ashworth. Mrs. Waite and Mr. L. A. Shingleton wor pinchole high, and Mr. Huberi Smith the low. Mrs. Briree and Mr. J. Currj won prizes at Monte Carl Whist. MRS. VERN SHINGLETOK entertained at a beautifully ap pointed dinner Thursday after noon, honoring Mrs. Bery Ewing of Ogden, who was ir Milford on G. I. R. Smith, and Mrs. J. D. Johnston were also seated at the table, which was covered with a crocheted cloth over pink satin, with a centerpiece cen-terpiece of flowers. |
