Don Donaldson, Social Security Se-curity District Manager at Provo, reports that some people lose cash benefits because they do not inquire about them early enough. Many people age 62 can receive payments even though they are still working. He recommends anybody approaching ap-proaching age 62 to contact their social secrity representative representa-tive several months before their 62nd birthday for a benefit bene-fit estimate and to learn what information and documents are necessary when filing for benefits. bene-fits. Evidence of age is required for most types of benefits. A birth certificate or church record rec-ord established before age five is necessary. If these records are not available, the social security representative will assist as-sist in locating other evidence which will be acceptable. An early contact will save needless loss or delay in payment rf monthly benefits. "More social security cheeks are delayed due to lack of good evidence of age than for any other reason," commented Mi Donaldson. If you wish assistance or have questions, visit the district dis-trict office at 170 North 200 West, Provo, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays and on Monday evenings, office hours are extended until 6:30 p.hi. for your convenience. |
