Show Club hears mental health talk Dr. Eugene Faux, director of child service in the division of mental hygiene and psychiatrist psychia-trist at the Youth Center at the State Hospital, Provo, presented pre-sented the program at the Alpha Al-pha Beta Club meeting Friday of last week. Mrs. Sterling E. Price was hostess. Dr. Faux was accompanied by four students from the Center Cen-ter and they responded to questions from the club group. Dr. Faux explained that 15 of the boys and girls have no family; that about 60 are from middle class homes although al-though all classes and walks in life are represented. The majority of children are 14 and 15 years of age and the average av-erage stay at the Center is about eight months. Boys and girls are accepted up to 17 years of age, he said. The program for the afternoon after-noon included a violin selection selec-tion by Mrs. J. Lewis Bird, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Maurice Bird and the latter entertained entertain-ed also with piano numbers. During a short business session, ses-sion, the president, Mrs. Earl Goates, who was in charge, welcomed the club and read a letter of appreciation for a cheek sent to the Youth Center. Cen-ter. Mrs. G. W. Harrison announced an-nounced the February All-Utah Art Show at the high school gallery. Announcement was made of the next club meeting to be February 9, at the home of Mrs. F. C. Packard. Refreshments were served by the hostess to members and guests, the latter including Effie Kelsey. Sgt. David P. Rowan and wife, Connie, and two children, Kathy and Scott, are leaving for Hawaii as Sgt. Rowan has been transferred to Hicken Air Force Base. They have been home during his leave from Tinker AFB in Oklahoma, where he has been stationed the past two years. Mrs. Rowan Ro-wan will join her husband on March 2 in California, to go to the islands and in the meantime mean-time is staying with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Jackson. Jack-son. They also visited his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Westman in Springville. Seems to me that old age is something that everybody else reaches long before I do. Most of our automobiles now shift for themselves. Too many of our people still don't. |
