Show Government has big payroll in Utah County Government employment amounted to 18.3 of the total number of persons on nonagrl-cultural nonagrl-cultural payrolls in Utah County Coun-ty during June, 1966. This fact was shown in the latest study of government employment in Utah, prepared by Utah Foundation, Foun-dation, the private governmental governmen-tal research organization. The report shows that of the 29,492 nonfarm employees in Utai County, a total of 5,400 were working for some agency of government. This included 629 Federal employees, 1,249 state employees and 3,522 local lo-cal employees. Statewide, there were 321,283 persons on nonfarm payrolls in Utah during June, 1966, of whom 90,732, or 28.2 were empoyed by governmental units. un-its. Preliminary forecasts for November, 1966, show that total to-tal nonagricultural employment in Utah had risen to 325,000, with government employment accounting for 95,500 or 29.4 of the nonfarm total. Foundation analysts point out that "although the total number num-ber of persons employed in Utah has risen during the past year, most of the increase can be attributed to the creation I of more government jobs." In Utah County, governmental governmen-tal employment rose from 4,324 in June, to 1960, to 5,400 in June 1966, a 24.9 rise during dur-ing the six-year period. |
