Show Book on capitol dome art reviewed at club A most delightful program was presented by Mrs Wendell Winger at the meeting of the Ladies Literary Club, where she reviewed the book, "Constantino "Con-stantino Brumidi, Michaelan-gelo Michaelan-gelo of the U. S. Capitol," by Dr. Myrtle C. Murdock. Mrs. Murdock is the wife of the former Congressman Murdock, of Arizona, and spent a number num-ber of years studying the works of Brumidi before writing writ-ing the book. The club meeting was held at the home of Mrs. E. T. Cran-dall Cran-dall and in observance of Music Mu-sic Month, the group sang, "God Bless America," and enjoyed en-joyed two piano selections by SuAnn Childress, granddaughter granddaugh-ter of the hostess. Mrs. John Y. Bearnson, president pres-ident of the club conducted the meeting and Mrs. Claude A. Smith announced the program. Mrs. F. C. Packard reported on the Legislative Council meeting. meet-ing. Mrs. Brent Packard read the club collect. The book review described in delightful manner the beautiful murals and frescoes on the walls and in the dome of the capitol building in Washington D. C. The expatriate Italian painted died without fame or fortune but his work has been lasting and admired today by all who visit the capitol building. build-ing. The hostess served a nicely arranged lunch preceeding the program, assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Peggy Childress of Orem. The next meeting was announced for Thursday, Feb. 17, at the home of Mrs. Clara Sumsion. |
