Utah County Commissioner G. Marion Hinckley has written Col. Robert E. Mathe, district engineer for the Corps of Engineers En-gineers in Sacramento, Calif., regarding the s:tuation. The commissioner said that last year the city of Springville Spring-ville took gravel from the bed of the .creek and piled it on the banks of the creek. However, after the spring and summer rains and heavy flows of the stream, the loose gravel was washed into the lower area of the creek bed filling it at places, Mr. Hinckley said. The area needing attention, he said, was the lower three miles from Highway 91 to Utah Lake. He said the county was unable to cope with the problem because of limited funds and equipment.
