Show Garney Johnson dies on coast Garney Vessie Johnson, a f o r m er Springville resident, died at Hollister, California, February 10, 1966, of cancer, following a long illness. Services Serv-ices were held Wednesday in California. He was born March 26, 1906, in Thomas, Idaho, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson. He came to Springville with a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weight and attended at-tended high school here where he served as mayor of the school and was one of the school's outstanding athletes. Following his marriage to Marie Neerings in the Salt Lake Temple, they resided in California, where he owned a grocery store and later worked work-ed in real estate. He served as bishop of the Modesto Ward for several years and also other oth-er church capacities. He was a high priest in his ward. He is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons and a sister, Gladys Nelson, a former resident of this city, who with her husband, resides in Marysville, Calif. |
