Show Law prohibits owning gun A reminder covering the il-' il-' legal use of guns by juveniles j was issued today by the Utah ( Department of Fish and Game. Utah law provides that no one under the age of 14 years of age may own a gun, nor may use or hunt with a gun I before reaching the 14 years of I age unless accompanied by a I parent or guardian. I Further provisions of law I subject the parent or guardan I to arrest and prosecution for I contributing to the delinquency I of a minor where they permit I the juvenile to violate these laws. 1 Spokesmen for the Depart-3 Depart-3 ment noted the intent of this legislation was to provide for a period of time in which juveniles ju-veniles might be taken afield by someone of adult years so they might learn safe gun handling in addition to the Hunter Safety Course before they reach the age when they can go afield alone. Upon reaching the age of 14, the juvenile may hunt non-game non-game animals without a license and without adult supervision. If properly licensed at 14 and 15 years, juveniles may hunt for game birds in season, but again, only when accompanied by someone 21 years of age or older. At 16 years, the juvenile is considered adult insofar as the State Fish and Game laws are concerned and may then purchase pur-chase and use the regular adult fish and game licenses. The Department citing the foregoing information and laws, urged everyone concerned with the youth of the State to respect re-spect and aid in the enforcement enforce-ment of these laws. Someone has compared the rise of women's skirts with the upward movement of the stock market. No boubt this is a situation sit-uation of interest to Dow Jones. |
